Welcome to my blog! If this is your first time here, a good place to start would be at Introduction and Overview, over to the right side of the page.

Introduction and Overview

Hi everyone! My name is Poom Pipatjarasgit, and I am currently a senior in the class of 2017 at Maumee Valley Country Day School. The purpose of my blog is to document what I am experiencing during my 2016 Fall Intensive Independent Study: Congress: Casework, Constituents, and More. During my independent study, I will be exploring the work and the importance of a United States House Representative by working in the office of Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-9). My learning experiences may include, but are not limited to, working on casework with constituents, community outreach, campaigning, taking on small projects, and attending committee meetings.

Congresswoman Kaptur has an office in Washington, DC, as well as several offices in her congressional district. I will be working as an intern in the Toledo and DC offices. My learning experiences in the Toledo office will focus more towards work with constituents and other work at the local level, whereas work in the DC office will focus more towards learning about the legislative process in the U.S. House of Representatives. I will be working in the Toledo office from August 24 to September 2, and in the DC office between September 6 and September 9.

For more information about Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, you may visit her website here.

I will present a project or overview of my independent study to the community at the Fall Intensive Fair on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at Maumee Valley Country Day School, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

This is my fourth academic independent study as a student at Maumee Valley Country Day School. Links to blogs from my previous independent studies can be found here in reverse chronological order. Unfortunately, for this independent study, I couldn't think of a good title that would fit the pattern of giving longer and longer titles to each subsequent independent studies.
